redBorder SE v1.5 publishedAfter a hard testing and certification process, redBorder SE v1.5 is published providing some back end improvements with respect to previous versions. This is mainly a stabilization with few viewable enhancements, but with a lot back end work to simplify the installation process, improve the scalability and solve some minor bugs found in previous versions.
New capabilities: - Local HDD support (for logs, cache,...).
- External storage support using iSCS, NFS or SAN, again for logs, cache, etc.
Improvements in the back end: - Enhanced install media.- Only required packages have been maintained in the CD image, thus reducing its space requirements (from 4GB to just 600MB) and improving the security (elimination of superfluous packages that were previously installed).
- Custom installation.- New installation menu to simplify and accelerate the installation process.
- Branding.- redBorder branding is used in the CD media.
- Bug solving.- Minor bugs detected in previous versions have been solved. At this moment there are no bugs pending.
- Testing.- As this release includes very few new capabilities, it has undergone a lot of testing and verification. Besides a couple of small bugs detected and solved, this testing has confirmed our Q&A team of the extreme stability of this release.
This release is going to be used for the OPSEC certification by CheckPoint. This is the reason we have named it 1.5 instead of just a minor 1.4 release. |
